Brazilian Guitar workshop

The Brazilian Guitar Workshop follows an outline which has been developed and tested over many years allowing a very quick understanding and appreciation of Brazilian music, including characteristic rhythms such as samba, bossa-nova, Baião, Chôro, Maracatu, Frevo or Forró. The workshops are held at different American or European venues on the occasion of music festivals or at musical institutions.                                                                                                     

An outstanding event is the annual workshop in Salvador da Bahia, with its fascinating atmosphere, its huge quantity of concerts and its interesting contacts with Brazilian musicians.

Workshop subjects:

Rhythm training, rhythmic patterns, typical chord sequences, phrasing and improvisation.

Arrangements for solo and ensemble compositions, e.g. by Baden Powell, Toquinho, Hermeto Pascoal,

Celso Machado, Egberto Gismonti.

Information on Brazilian musical history and culture.

If you would like to teach guitar and have already a good basis knowlegde of music theory join the guitar teacher education by Ahmed. You should be a player with good technical skills.

To gain the certificate you will be an assitant to Ahmed in his workshop in Brazil. Furthermore you have to do 20 lessons with Ahmed El-Salamouny. Ahmed will supervise at least two lessons by you.

There will be a final test where you have to play a 20 minute concert program as well as to teach a lesson in front of the jury

Ahmed El-Salamouny completed his studies of classical music in the Mozarteum, Salburg, Austria.    He studied at the university Hans Eissler, Berlin, Germany, Physiology for Musicians.                                 

He also owns a diploma for coaching and training by the German employee academy.
